I can't get as close as the guys with the MP-E65, so I have to use tubes to get closer, but even then it doesn't have the magnification or clarity.

Still, I'll make do with it until I get another load of money (but that will have to be a lottery win not redundancy, lol)....

This is a cranefly, but it was at as awkward an angle as it could be, as it sheltered on the drier side of the garden fence, but I had to stand across the soil bed (very muddy) and shoot from slightly above to get the eyes, which made for harder positioning all round.

5DMk2 ain't exactly cheap!

I must admit I use the MPE a lot of the time but my favorite shots are natural light tripod with tele macro.

Nice capture by the way.

LOL yeah, that 5D Mk II and 100 F2.8 at a combined cost of around £2000 (todays prices) is bargain bin rubbish. Disgusted! :D You should have bought a 1Dx and MPE-65, 12 extension tubes and another galaxy's sun Paul. Shame on you :D

hehe, sorry I couldn't resist a jibe ;). Only meant in fun Grism

Paul, great shot mate. Love the refraction on the eye and it's tack sharp. ISO3200 works darn good on that 5D II.

How dare he post photos not taken with a 1DX :P No need to apologize :) I lust after the MPE-65 myself, so I know the feeling
