The pictures seem to not have any EXIF info since they are uploaded to photobucket. What lens and body did you use? on the first one I used a 70-200 2.8 L, and since I was out birding, probably even had the 1.4x extender on it, not sure. was using a crop camera for the extra range, a T3i William

You've got camera shake of some sort. Probably need a faster shutter speed... 5D3 | 16-35L | 45 TS-E | 50L | 85L | 100L | 135L | 24-70L | 70-200 II L | 580s | Zero, TT & Crumplers | and an X100!

You need to make sure there is a catch light in each eye, either from a flash, reflector or add it with software. She is such a lovely young lady...keep practicing and post more. Dan

This doesn't give you extra range, only a narrower field of view. Remember what the DorMouse said.....feed your head.

I went back and reviewed the EXIF ISO 100 f/4.0 FL 280mm but SS only 1/80 that is under the 1/focal length rule by a good bit, and with the weight of the 70-200mm and 1.4 extender, guess should have bumped up the ISO to 400 at least thanks for the help! Ya, way under the 1/focal length rule lol. You also need to take into consideration the crop factor. If you were shooting at 280mm then the shutter speed needs to be at 1/280*1.6 = 1/448 But IS will help a lot so you can go a bit lower than that. I would suggest taking the extender off next time though. For a portrait the crop factor already makes it very long. 5D Mark III / 70-200 2.8L IS II / 24-105L / 50 1.8 stm / Tamron 70-300 VC / Sigma 85mm 1.4 Art
