Good deal.
I picked up one and love it. Boots up instantly and better battery life, not a lot but an extra 30 mins or so with medium brightness on my screen. With this price, I might pick another one for a travel external hard drive.

Cloning it is the easiest way to do it.

I used Acronis True Image to clone to a SSD. I did a disk check, then cleanup then defrag then cloned it to the SSD.

Important note about SSD, don't bother defragging it. It's pointless. The controller tells where the info for the files are on the SSD memory. Plus with SSD, there is only a limited number of times it can read/write to a memory slot so defragging can slowing degrade that.

Would it be better to upgrade from Vista 64 to windows 7 or 8 before adding an SSD? Vista doesn't have a trim function, does it?

Fresh install of Windows 7 would be better.

Vista was horrible.
