I like the second photo, but wonder if a little more DOF for the body would have been nice.

Being that this was shot with a 35mm lens (and at f/1.4) about a foot away from the gull, additional DOF would have been close to impossible. Actually, I thought it had abit too much as is :) Thankfully the bird didn't attack me after snapping the pic.

Um, I think he meant more depth of field. As in, a smaller aperture so more would be in focus.

Also, I was expecting a gull sitting on a surfers board or in the frame with the surfer.

Yeah, I'd like to see the beak in focus with the eyes. Surfer shot is slick, I like it

Ok, here is one more. I was able to find another image that I didn't need to clone someone out of the back in. I was also able to add some sky color back.
