Love it, dreamy quality about it, plenty of foreground interest and just enough in the back. Good saturation as well

I like this quite a bit. Nice shot.
I would try stepping slightly to the left to get more of the other RR crossing gate in the background. This would also open up a little more space between the skyline and the foreground gate. The shot also needs to be rotated slightly clockwise.

You mean clockwise to straighten the crossing gate pole? But, that would put the horizon at a tilt.....Hmm, that could be very interesting. Thanks for the input, I'll see play around with it.

Stronger contrast with some de-saturated colors would be cool IMO. :) That's probably been done to death though. :/

The pole on the left is not vertical (image does need slight clockwise rotation) - perhaps it could be artificially straightened or removed?

Guess you might have to be from Houston to appreciate the view from this perspective? I am not getting the rail crossing bar being the main focus.

The horizon is not straight now.

There are only so many angles you can shoot downtown from, it's a pretty small grouping of buildings. The strange thing about Houston is you have downtown, uptown, galleria and they are are clumps of buildings separated by suburbs. Unlike NYC where it's one huge mass of concrete and steel, you have to find creative ways of shooting.
