Need Lens advice for portraits with 5d3. 24mm f/1.4L?

Hey guys, I just ordered a 5D Mark III (upgrading from my 7D) and I'm looking to get a nice wide angle lens. Pretty much every post I've ever seen of the 24 1.4 is a glowing review.

My primary use for the camera/lens will be shooting portraits (and also some indoor/outdoor business functions (not weddings), and the occasional landscape).

My question is what wide angle lens would you guys recommend? I was hoping to stay around $1300 (used or refurb). I'd really like to find a good all around lens (which is what I believe the 24mm is, but I wanted to get some more opinions).

Any advice would be appreciated!

Sigma 35 1.4.

Agreed with Keyser. The 24mm is pretty wide on FF and sometimes can be hard to frame the right shot. The 35mm is a lot easier to use IMO.

I think OP just doesn't realize how wide 24mm really is on a ff camera:p

35L or Sigma 35 is the way to go.

Sigma 35/1.4. It is cheaper than the 35L and has better IQ.

Yeah, 24 is too wide on FF for portraits. Assuming you get a good copy the Sigma 35 is good or the 35L or 35 f2 IS are both options if you don't want to play the Sigma lottery.

Otherwise I like 50 as a focal length on FF, my 50L is my walk around over my 24-70 II for just that reason.
