I highly doubt it'll be any better than your 70-300mm that you already have...why waste your money?

as for the mount...looking here, i'd say it's either minolta or yashica...i'd lean towards minolta...but i wouldn't buy it if i were you...

If you really want a budget alternative to your 70-300, go for the 55-250 or this:

It is an older Minolta (Sony "A" mount) lens with screw drive AF.

Minolta AF http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minolta_AF (external link)

Sony A-mount http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Alpha (external link)

There is an adapter but it has corrective optics for infinity focus. http://www.amazon.ca …ic-AG-AF100/dp/B0048A8SZ2 (external link)

Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm, auto-focusing, or any other functions will not operate correctly while using this adapter. In this case "stop-down mode" will need to be used when metering since the lens does not have the ability to have its aperture controlled by the camera body. You can shoot with manual mode or aperture priority mode.
