I have been trying some new shooting lately and one is to simulate shooting with film. I do this by covering up my LCD (or rather flipping it shut on my 60D) and going out and shooting without looking at the LCD and then retaking a picture. I only use the view finder.

This will have to be a "scouts honor" type contest as I am not aware of any way to ensure someone did not look at the screen. In addition these shots should be SooC. Cropping is allowed. Black and white conversions are also allowed.

Here are the rules:
-Contest begins as of the date of this post.
-Contest Ends on May 24th at 12pm central time (US)
-Winner is chosen that night by 10pm central time (US)
-Judge will be me, winner will be the next judge
-Can be taken with any camera
-Post basic exif info
-NO REVIEWING SHOTS ON THE SPOT

No chimping? You trying to ruin my night's sleep? How will I know if I got the shot? My Gawd, it will be like the old days waiting for my pics to come back from the drugstore.:(

Today, and I was super surprised that it was this clear SOOC, nothing but a crop done.

We were walkin down the strip heading back towards Harrah's. We realized we were almost late for a poker tournament we signed up for, and as we were bookin it back to the hotel, I stopped, snapped one shot of the Venetian hotel, one of this fountain and kept on truckin back. Obviously not a great picture, but for the time of day, hand held, and only taking the one shot and goin, I'm pleased. Also it's been a long time, but I'm pretty sure all I did in post was a crop.

Could take this even further. Manual mode shooting only. No chimping and only 36 frames. Then make a "contact" sheet and post that in here.

Or just buy an original EOS Rebel for 20 bucks, along with a roll of film, and have yourself a ball. Oh, and it fits all your EF lenses to boot. ;)
