Canon LC-E6 Battery Charger Strange Stuff

I just bought a new Canon LC-E6 charger and am experiencing an interesting phenomenon.

When I put original Canon batteries in the charger, everything is fine. But when I put a Sterlingtek battery in the charger, it blinks like crazy. I don't know if the charger is actually charging the battery.

This does not occur with the charger that came with my camera. And I have no problem with the Sterlingtek charger.

But it appears that the new charger has done something to the battery because I get an error message in the camera when I turn it on -- cannot communicate with the battery or communications with the battery is irregular.

Has anybody else seen anything like this?

Checking another part of this forum, it appears that the problem might be related to the 5D3 firmware update. Check that thread under the cameras section of this forum.

Apparently there are two things going on here. One is that others have found that third party batteries are not always communicating well with the 5D3 after this week's firmware update.

And others are also finding that newer chargers seem to have issues with third party batteries, resulting in the rapid blinking.

I'm running into the same thing I have four chargers which came with a 7D, 7dII, 60D and a 70D. The data plates are different two have a model number (DS510101) and
two have no model number. The chargers without a model number will charge aftermarket batteries the ones with the model number will not. I'm pretty sure the chargers
with the model number came with the 70D and 7DII>
