I recently started shooting birds again with the Tamron 200-500mm. Started looking into a 500mm f/4 as I did not think the Tamron was capable of sharp shots. Today proved me wrong as I captured what I think are tack sharp shots of a male and female cardinal. The female was shot wide open 500mm @ 6.3:

I do discard a lot more than I keep, but this lens is tack sharp when the focus is spot on! Thanks for viewing & any feedback :cool: Even though I don't see a need for the 500mm f/4 IS as the Tamron seems to be doing fine, I'm going to pick one up one day because this is actually the wife's lens and I want my own 500mm :p
