Hi I'm going to be in Cypress Hills this weekend. I'm wondering if there are any particular roads or areas to see wildlife? I heard there was a restaurant that has bird feeders which many different types of birds visit. Any tips or comments are useful.

Thanks,

Travis

You don't say which part you are destined for as this area is pretty large and has lots to offer. There are several back roads throughout the park in both Alberta and Saskatchewan that provides everything from deep forest to bald prairie. You can get Antelope, Deer, Elk and Moose for large game and a large variety of birds. I have never heard of the restaurant with the feeders but I tend to shy away from places like that and shoot in the more wilder spots but it does take alot more time and patience. There is one road that is not much more than a rough gravel road that takes you from Elkwater on the Alberta side to Reesor Lake and then on into Saskatchewan if you want. This is the one that I take pretty much every year and I always see large game in large groups. Some of this land is also leased out to ranchers for cattle grazing so you have to keep your eyes out for cattle at large. I have had some close calls with them appearing out of nowhere while driving through some of the more wooded areas.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

Thanks Sheldon. We will be staying around maple creek and driving into the park. Well I'll try and find that road on google maps. Sounds like it could be a fun drive as long as it's not to muddy out this time of year.
