just asking for fun - which would be the best choice? (yes, you probably won't see the difference on that small print..)

TBH, i don't see much of a difference from 100mm onwards. e.g. comparing 100mm vs 350mm, maybe the nose appears a tad slimmer? who else can see a difference?

The 135L, 100L, and 70-200 will do just fine for passport.

just no wide angle shots ...sigma lenses are fine....you want actual size of head not a distorted picture.

So if God made Man & Woman....whats his excuse for Nikon...

For a passport size headshot even the fixed lens of a good (G-series) compact will suffice and give you best price / performance ratio.

I took my passport photo at walgreens, they used a $50 P&S. You don't need expensive lens

I voted 135L but honestly it doesnt matter a bit. What matters is that the head fit within the size guidelines. Its not like anyone cares how good your ID photo looks.

Does it matter?

A $40 P&S would work perfectly considering the output is a 1x1 photo where the only people who will see it don't care one bit about photography.

Uhh... how do you select a lens without knowing your effective focal length?

Because it doesn't matter....it's a passport photo.

Take it with a DSLR, phone, kodak point and shoot...no one is going to know the difference, especially between the 100 macro, 135L or 70-200 - regardless of format.
