I felt bad for the Sigma getting so few votes, so I voted for it! Hope this helps. :)

lol because the s35 is not meant for headshots, so don't feel bad about it. just included it for fun :p

Personally I think you should go with the MP-E 65mm macro.

Can it even focus that far out? I've never played with one, but I thought it was limited on inifinty focus for some reason.

I suggest a lens with glass elements but, for passport work, plastic would probably suffice...

i think it was a joke...the farthest out it'll focus is already 1:1...unless he meant photostitching together a few shots :)

Being lazy, I went to Costco to take my passport pictures and they used a Fuji p&s with pop up flash :)

Hrmm, I kinda like the idea of photostitching from 5X to get a passport photo. What says absurd like 1,000,000 DPI for a passport photo?

Pretty sure I used the webcam on my iMac for my passport photo.

I took passport photos for me, my wife, and several friends with an iPhone 3Gs. The only thing that matters is being able to properly resize it to fit their specs. Wish I had thought to use my 85mm lens wide open - it would be interesting to see if they'd take a photo where only one eye was in focus.
