There are many tests and sample images in the web (for example in this forum or at flickr) with different cameras and it turned out as a good lens for the money and because it is so small. It is good at full frame so it will be better at 1,3x crop because the edge quality will be better. Sorry for my bad English

The 40mm would be great one lens setup for 1d3 IMO. In the end I went for 35/2 (the old one) and I was very pleased. It's not as small but small enough and offers near normal FOV on 1D3. new to Canon
