So I ordered my camera up and what not but I need a bit of help on software .. I know I will want Lightroom but do I also need/want Elements ... also I see the Adobe Photoshop Elements 11 & Premiere Elements 11 in a bundle ... what do I gain by getting this bundled? I tried researching it a bit but Im not even sure what I was reading ... sorry about the simple question ... any help insight would be appreciated ...

Thanks in advance

Steve

OK, first things first: get LR.
I won't get into the PS Element v/s PS CS6 question, it depends on your needs (and budget) As for Premiere Elements, if you don't plan on shooting video, don't bother.
Hope this is helpful...

I will be shooting some video but it is not the primary purpose of this camera. I was contemplating getting PS CS6 but not sure I need to spend the money on that yet ... thoughts?

Don't get anything other than LR to start. There is a chance it may be all you need for photo editing, so save your money until you get into it a bit and determine exactly what you really need.

I have CS6, but for use it more for editing film scans.

+1 on LR...I have PSE 10 and LR3 and almost never use PS...usually, if I can't get it done in LR, I toss the pic. A lot can be done with LR.

I bought a copy of elements a couple years ago off Amazon, after I put CS5 in my cart a couple times but never actually bought it at the time. Within six months they emailed me a coupon for $400.00 off CS5. Might have been just a coincidence but it worked out perfect!!

I wouldn't buy LR4 at this moment: Start by using the LR5 Beta.

OTOH, I tried the LR freebies & took them off my computer. PS7 still does everything I need so PSE with LR would probably a better & cheaper choice for you. At best, they will work just fine for what you need to do. At worst, if PSE isn't complex enough, you're only out $50-70 instead of $600, unless you're a student & can get the big discount for PSCS6.
Is Lightroom a replacement for Photoshop

And I've taught PSCS, so I'm not recommending PSE because I don't understand what PSCS6 can do.

I recently only had LR and elements. I only used elements for advanced object removal. I just bought the NIk software package and really enjoy it and would recommend checking out the demo once you have a grasp of LR.
