i currently have a 600D. i want to upgrade to a camera that does continuous AF on videos.

it's down to Flip screen (T5i) vs Small size (SL1)
AF points isn't really a big deal for me on a camera of this type

any other comments/opinions?

I think my 5D is too small when I take the grip off. Imagine this body with a 70-200 2.8 attached. No interest at all. I have an SX260 if I need small.

As far as I'm concerned, it's too big to be a truly small camera once you put anything other than the 40 on it...and yet it's too small to be something that'll handle well for an adult with average hands, especially if you throw a half-decent lens on it.

I kinda don't like where they put the shutter button on the 100D. I just think it's not very comfy.

Speaking of buttons...I'm not a fan of what they did with the two right hand side thumb buttons either...they've been side-by-side for years and years through every model for a reason: It works.

Just make sure you have done you're due diligence researching the video AF on the 700d. Just because it has AF in video mode on paper doesn't mean it works particularly well or as well as a camcorder. Especially when it comes to focus breathing which is extremely distracting.
For example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OnHX9BJGRU (external link)

You can look up videos with video AF with the 650d as well. It may be just what you need, or not, just saying, make sure you know how it does in real use not just on paper.
