Has anyone used Reliable Places or other SEO help company? I got a rather pushy and unpleasant sales call the other day so hung up on them. But afterwards, I looked them up and I was like, hm, maybe businesses do pay for services like these...?

I do know there are lots and lots of worthless "experts" out there so be very careful. I actually heard this on the radio the other night during a long drive, and it seemed to make sense. It is a Kim Komando article on SEO.

While SEO is helpful to generate business, a lot of it can be done by yourself. If you do decide to invest some money into SEO practices, you might look at SEOMoz (external link). You'll still have to do the work yourself, but you'll be set for the future. SEO can be a very effective tool, but it gets expensive quick when hiring a firm.

Hi I deal with a lot of web sites..200+ and I've yet to see an SEO team do what they promise..you can pay for ranking, or take the natural slow route..a good domain name can do a lot more than SEO is not that hard but does take real effort and maintenance!!
cheers

Thanks for chiming in & giving me those links. I really didn't like the guy on the phone, reminded me too much of the movie Boiler Room so at one point I started laughing! I am already putting in some efforts and with some key words & city names, I do come up on the first page of Google search. I am definitely thinking about SEO and improving it.

No, I don't use any SEO company. I do most of the research myself as there is a wealth of info on the internet.
