As much as I have touted the virtues of the Epson R800 on this forum, I must now tell a tale of woe and ask if anyone knows the cause or cure...

When I try and print out a photo , usually using; best, gloss, premium gloss photo paper,4 or 5 sheets in the in tray, ( I have not tried other modes than these) , the paper will not feed...it kicks it up and down in the tray a few times then goes to a paper feed problem message....then when I try again I get a message that I am not set up to print with rolled paper (which I have never used). If I shut off the machine and restart, put in one sheet at a time, it works ok.. I have reloaded the drivers with no effective changes...any ideas?I'm lost!

That's a good one or should I say bad one.

I just can't imagine right now. I use mine all the time and I've never seen that message about the roll paper.

Under Paper options, you're selecting Sheet, right? I'm sure you are but wouldn't hurt to check.

Options are Sheet, Roll, Manual.

No JohnnyG...it was one of the first things I checked..I've had this printer for a couple of years and I'm pretty familiar with the options/settings..but that doesn't mean I haven't overlooked something...I'm wondering if there is a sensor or trigger that I have inadvertantly bumped and it thinks a roll is installed...The sticky paper is a good call Sony23, and a good possibility for the no feed thing...I do remember that they often cling pretty close when in hand..I sent an email to Epson today and got an auto message promising to reply within 24 hours...they have about 8 left!! I'll report their message back ....thanks guys

I did tech work for a few years on printers. I have an R800. I have never had the prob you have.

But... at a guess, you should shut the trays and spin the printer to look at the back. On the back is a horizontal slit to feed in paper off a roll of paper. To tell the printer paper has "arrived" in that slot is a hard switch, a finger switch. Sometimes a piece of paper will be in there inadvertantly and sometimes the photo-interupter will get dusty and go U/S. Check that, I'll wait out.

Awwww, I didn't mean to insult your intelligence Peachman but we all can overlook the simple stuff at times! I know I do.

Sorry if you're offended.

As you know I have the same printer and I'm very interested in the solution so be sure to post it here! Okay partner?

Hey JohnnyG....No No No...not in the least insulted( although there are those who say that I have no intellegence to insult ! )...don't I know about overlooking the simple stuff...I'm the master of that...and it's usually the case....Thanks for the input..I,m all about results and answers...not much of an ego guy...Running this boatbuilding shop we are always having problems with engine or electronic systems and my first comment to the tecks is to look simple first...

and Carzee, that's the thing that I was hoping to find...where the sensors are...I'll look there tonight...thanks for your help guys..
