Here's my first real try at sports shots...it was cold, cloudy, wet, and muddy. But they look like they were having a great time. Please let me know how I could improve.
thanks

bwahhaahaaa ! I didn't know people really played quidditch now. Too funny seeing adults running around with broomsticks between their legs.

One of these guys broke his stick! I think that should be a penalty, looks a little dangerous to me. ;)

thanks y'all! (you know I'm from the south!)
After looking at the pics a bit more, I'm thinking I could have shot wide open @ 2.8 and would have had more separation from the background. I think I was more concerned with getting anything in focus. :) next time, i'll try 2.8. I was using AI Servo and center focus point. I was a little unnerved trying to keep my focus point at least close to what I was shooting. I would also like to shoot a little tighter. Any suggestions on anticipating shots so that I could be more prepared to catch the action I want?
Will

Will,
2 good sources for autofocus info on 5D II:

http://cpn.canon-europe.com …om_functions_explained.do (external link)

http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3130857 (external link)

Tracking and focusing take some practice...shoot, shoot shoot. Depending upon F used a 2.8 might be a bit thin...I normally use 3.5-4.0 on my 70-200 for lax and, yes, Quidditch!:D

Brilliant! Most of 'em look as if their broomstick would struggle to get airborne. Made me laugh.
