Some of my files are "missing" in Lightroom. I click on the question mark and it promps me to search and "find nearby missing photos." Great! I find my file -- but the nearby missing photos won't automatically show up! I still have to search for each individual file even though they are all in the same folder. ARGH -- so frustrating! Any clues as to why this is not working?

Thanks!

You know you can synchronize the entire folder right. That will allow all missing images to be brought back in to LR. Simply right click on the folder in the Library module then Synchronize Folder and pop up window will appear telling you how many images are missing, how many new images are in the folder but not in LR and it will scan for metadata updates as well.

FIle show missing for a few reasons,

one: you moved the files to a different location

or

two: the Drive the files are stored on got a different drive letter assigned to it.

also if you do your file management in lightroom library, it tracks where you move/tidy your folders etc. and prevents further question marks appearing

if your drive number got changed (disconnected and reconnected drive) you can simply change the drive number back to what it should be in disk management as well.

OH, boy, I'll have to look into all that! I love LR for editing but, I have to admit, I haven't taken full advantage of its storage capabilities. Thanks so much! :)

No. It should.
Got a screenshot?

That will import files as "new": Without edits. Probably not what you'd want.

ACK! None of these things are working. I right click on the folder and the "synchronize" button won't highlight, so I can't click on it. If I click on the question mark, I can manually find the folder, but the REST of them won't synch and what a PAIN to do each individually. Not sure what happened -- I never moved anything! Well, I will try to re-import (most are not edited, Rene.) Thanks so much for the feedback everyone!
