so I have never seen the milkyway let alone photographed it. took a trip to montauk to see the meteor shower and photograph the sunrise. To my surprise I got my first glimps at the milkyway and decided to try and shoot it. unfortunitly I did not bring my remote shutter release so shooting past 30 sec was not an option so I had to use a higher iso and forgot to focus. so noise was a problem. But here are a few after post production. settings were 8mm fisheye, f/8, 30sec.

Great first attempt! I would suggest shooting as wide as you can with that 8mm..not at f8. Proper focusing will also make a big difference. Keep up the good work!

Great job - and shoot down to about f5, I shot at 2.8 on my Tokina 11-16 2.8 and it suffered, but damn mate, good job.

Nice lens, however Tokina has a 11-16 f2.8, there are members in this forum who are very satisfied with this lens

I am - have both of them and used them the other night on the 60D. Both are great lenses to use, depends how wide you want to go.
