Taken with the mpe at 3x mag. To take a shot like this you need to be pretty confident about the temperament of the snake and I wouldn't recommend getting this close under normal circumstances. Fortunately this particular specimen was docile and despite some warning tongue flickers neither I nor the snake felt threatened:  Thanks for looking and commenting, Paul Paul

I was photographing a Western Pygmy Rattlesnake several years ago that had it been non-venomous, I wouldn't have hesitated handling it.
