Speaking of new stuff, just compare Canon (7D/60D etc) image quality one gets from $1000 priced Pentax/Nikon/Sony DSLRs. The latter are far superior. For example the APS-C Pentax K5 and Nikon D7000 have image quality at par with a FF Canon 5DIII.
I'd say time Canon made crop sensor cameras that offer better image quality, with high ISO/low noise imagery and not just huge MP sensors.

According to here http://www.cameraegg.org/category/canon-eos-70d/ (external link) Canon will be announcing the 70D in June. The rumours were it was to be announced at the end of April but then Canon changed their mind and will be putting a 'new' 21Mp sensor instead of the 18Mp from the 700D (T5i). I'm keeping a very close eye on the developments as I'm planning to swap my 7D backup body for a 70D if it lives up to expectations. The 7D MkII release seems to have been shelved until next year according to some sources, although the announcement may come late this year.

if there were only some place in this forum for all these camera rumors (or rumours)

I don't know.... I'm thinking they could release a new APS-C that has better ISO performance (better than current APS-C sensors) as well as improved DR, and still not affect the so called "Full Frame" market.

Absolutely. Even if the 7D2 had better noise characteristics and DR than the 5D3 it would still not be as good in the minds of many.

Personally, I think the 60D "market" could go away. save the single number bodies for full frame, and make the 70D the replacement for the 7D.

How mant tiers do you really need?

I never quite got the move behind the 60D...they moved the XXD down market (size, etc) and the XXXD upmarket (ISO button, grip material, etc)...the two are so close together, that if you were to ask me what the difference between the T4i and a 60D is and why someone should buy one and not the other...I'd be hard-pressed to come up with anything...

Brand new T4i $648, brand new 60D $699 at B&H now!

What 'd you expect for fifty bucks?

How many tiers do you need? Look at the FF market... 1Dx, 5D3, 6D and blood is running in the streets in some threads about the relative pros and cons and relative value of each series...;)

The 60D is now selling around the $600 area (body only) in Canada, down from $8-900 last month. Could be a sign that the next upgrade model is around the corner.

That's my whole point...they're about the same size, feature about the same specs and cost about the same amount...hence why I don't understand why we have both...

Hard to take it seriously when just a few months ago they were saying the 7D2 will be announced in Jan. 2013...

http://www.canonrumors.com …rk-ii-rumors-surface-cr1/ (external link)

And then a month ago they quoted a "very solid source" saying that the 7D2 will be announced this summer/early fall:

http://www.canonrumors.com …-with-eos-7d-mark-ii-cr2/ (external link)

Lesson: CR is often completely useless. They throw SO much information out there, that OF COURSE every now and again they are right, which then leads people to say "oh wowwww...lookie here what CR predicted, they must have a magic crystal ball and a special future wand!!!".

When in reality, it's like me sneezing paint onto a dartboard...I'm sure some of it will hit bull's eye.

:lol::lol::lol:

I think you've hit on their editorial process.

I just love the way that so many people quote them as if what they published was a stone-cold certain fact. None of this 'may', 'might', 'could', etc. Nope it's 'will', 'won't', 'shall', etc.
