hi

i went to take some photos of a couple of dresses made by my friend Juliet.

I processed only one photo to try a couple of different looks, and i think this is the one i like the most.
I would love to know what you think about it.
I was going for a "fashion" look, kind of desaturated, but i'm not really experienced with this, so any ideas or advices are very welcome.

The fashion looks good but the background - yuck! What is that stuff?

It's OK. Lots of room for type at the left. So if you're shooting for her, I'd crop a tighter vertical image.

that stuff on the back is a "wall made out of plants" (sorry, don't really know how to explain it in english). maybe not the best, but the designer liked how it went with the pattern on the dress. I also actually like it to go along an African designed dress.

i shot for my friend who is the designer from the dress. she asked me for photos that she could use in many things, like flyers, posters, internet,...
but maybe for the model i can make a vertical crop. good idea, thanks! ;)

I don't like the background either, plus she is standing too close to it. I would pull her further away from the background and change the background color. Otherwise, the model has a beautiful expression and angle. The dress really does pop too.

With the background it looks like she Is lying in the grass and in pain. I think with fashion you want to be highlighting the clothing...this just has us guessing as to what is going on and therefore detracting from the focus on the dress.
I see what you were trying to do but I think that it is too complicated.

ok, it seems like everyone agrees this was not a good background... i guess you are right then.

Next time i'll pay more atention to that and try to find a better background.

THANKS

Well, if you're running text over it, it might work OK. Other possibilities would be to blur it a little. Or just PS it out. Need to remove a background from something?
