First trials in the yard. Using a 5d2, handheld through viewfinder with focusing screen. All at max aperture f/3.5. No crop. Raw conversion with no sharpening.

Edge sharpness cut out from larger picture:

My imagine composition sucks. I need a heavier lens.

Thanks. Good to see real world stuff. Can you try a landscape using tilt to maximize DOF?

Getting around in Cambridge is such a hassle, so here's just a quick one with shift.

Just handheld and focus through viewfinder, this one is f/11. I have f/3.5 somewhere.

Ah, didn't look to see you're in Boston. Not the best place for wide landscapes unless you're up high.

Nice shot here. Especially for handheld.

Thanks. The f/3.5 weren't sharp but it was me misfocusing with no AF confirm, not a lens problem.

The landscapes won't be all that wide. This thing has serious focal length creep when focusing :)

OK, I'm high up now. Without my tripod :D. It's an embarrassing question to ask but what the hell. How exactly do I calculate the correct shift angle to focus on the ground in front of me? And is there a solution for the problem of roofs being out of focus while the ground is in focus?

Not sure. I know T-S lenses when used for big DoF will have more of a focus "wedge" than a focus plane, with the narrow end closer to the camera. But until I get my own T-S and learn how to use it, I'd be just guessing as to how you'd set it.

I have a couple more here. They are more for debugging than pretty pictures so I didn't move them here. I plan to upload more shortly (to that thread):

Sorry, I returned it due to the concerns of sharpness at long focusing distance and other things mentioned in the other thread.

Well I guess this thread is pretty much dead, but I'm really curious about the barrel distortion on this Samyang tilt shift lens mentioned on some review sites.

Is the barrel distortion really noticeable? How difficult is it to remove in post process?
