Weather forecast today was for sunny spells so off I hopped in the Bug up to the trossachs, my origional intentions were to have a go shooting a few waterfalls I knew the location off.

I was surprised by the amount of snow in the area which led me into a muddy field to get a few shots of Ben Ledi.

The unfortunate part of having so much snow around is that the rivers are raging with water coming off the hills as the snow melts.

I think I've damaged my hearing and nerves being this close to the river.

As I'm new to the slow shutter speed technique many have mastered on this forum I reckon I've self-learned that fast-flowing, raging white rapids don't really make a good subject

Never mind, lesson 1 of 1 million learnt today. :)

What ........?? Did someone say something .........?? ;)

It always opens up my heart to see pictures of bony Scotland and you`ve done a great job there.
Never mind about the waterfalls,it will come to you in time.
Enjoy your shooting.

Thanks Dimitri

Yeah today wasn't the best of days to be out shooting but to be honest I haven't been out since last Novemeber :( And the inspiration I get from folks like yourself inspires me to the point I become desperate for some action.

In #1 the tree works nicely as foreground detail, Buggbairn!

I'm hearing Ya mate

I took that shot of Ben Ledi from a field about half a mile from Callander coming in on the Stirling Road.

I'm only 20 odd miles away and the last few days we've had heavy rain, I did not expect a snow capped Ben Ledi.

As an eager 18 year old I camped on the top of Ben Ledi one summer , I'm not sure if you've been up there but the views of the Trossachs breathtaking.

Love the Trossachs, but think I will wait until the Spring to go back. Once all the snow is gone.:) Know what you mean about the rushing water. I need to practice that. But I just want to get a very slight smoothness to it. Still like to see some turmoil in the water. I like all 3 shots, but #1 is really nice.

I think You'd love it up there, the views of Loch's Lubnaig, Katrine and Venechar are superb, if I remember correctly you can see over to Loch Lomond too.

And the silence up there is something I've never witnessed before.

I'm thinkin of heading up again this summer as I have no shots of my experience :)

Funny that, I've always thought the same of New Zealand.

You just have to look at the amount of sheep scattered over our countries to realise that they are of similar terrain.

If you head through Callander heading towards Loch Lubnaig there's a bridge crossing the River Teith just before you reach the loch (I'm sure it's sign-posted for Holiday Log cabins).

Just across that bridge is a car park to the left, the trail up starts there and I'm sure it's also sign posted, the 1st part of the hike is through forest with paths that are laid on top of Branches (it's a weird but very enjoyable bouncy feeling).

We should have a Scottish PTON excursion up there. :D
