Just thought I'd pose this question to nature and landscape photographers being that weather plays a huge part in what we do.

I currently use wundermap, weather channel and wunderground apps. They are pretty much the same (as for accuracy) when comparing the 3; however, I'd like to know if there's other app or websites that is even more accurate. I'd prefer live maps with options like, live cam view, live radar, sever weather warnings local area weather and so forth. I know there's no magic bullet app, but I'd like to get the best there is.

So please chime in and let others know what you're using and how good it is!

Thanks in advance and I hope I posted this in the right forum!

I've taught myself to read satellite imagery so that I get the clouds I want when I want them. It's not fool-proof, but I have caught some amazing sunrise/sunsets because of it. I think that's part of being a landscape photographer: being an amateur meteorologist (among other skills).

Weatherbug for forecasts, radar, cameras, warnings, etc. Primarily a mobile app.

I'm a pilot so I also use aviationweather.gov/adds. Good reliable information about visibility, ceilings, etc. Prog (prognostication) charts are useful for anticipating weather conditions.

Thanks Mike21951!

With the info I've been getting from everyone, it's seems that I am on the right track with what features to look for in the apps that I currently use.

Thanks again everyone!

Crystal ball. ;)

Seriously, the weather forecasts so often miss the mark spectacularly around here. Yesterday I got in position on a mountain pass when satellite, radar, and forecasts all looked encouraging, only to see an ominous black cloud swallowing up the sky to the north of me and heading my way. Got back to the car just as hail started showering down. All hell broke loose after that, with so much rain that visibility was almost nil. Had to drive off onto a forest road to get under trees that could protect the car somewhat from the hail. So much for that outing!

Phrasikleia......

You're right about the weather being so unpredictable even with the last radar or weather apps. It also helps to know the weather patterns of the region you're shooting in also.

Awesome pictures on your website by the way!

I like RadarNow! on the Android. It is simply the current radar imagery from the nearest NWS radar. That combined with the Wunderground app does a great job of keeping me up to date on the conditions.

My primary mode of transportation is a motorcycle so I've always got an eye on the weather.
