Took my first trip up to Yellowstone at the end of April. So much wildlife that it's almost overwhelming.

Here are a handful of the images I took while there. I still have a lot to sort through.

All images taken with a 500mm f4L IS and either a 1D Mark IV or 7D

This one was my favorite of the whole trip. While photographing this Grizzly that was way out in a field. He saw some Geese along the river and decided to chase them. I wasn't really ready for him to come running at me this fast so I only had time to pull off two shots and luckily this was one of them. This photo also made it to Flickr Explore.

I agree that these are wonderful, especially the wolves. I think you must have strong stomach and heart!

Absolutely wonderful images, Chris!

You sere certainly well-equipped, with a 500mm lens and a stellar body. And the images show your skill in using long lenses - great stuff! I especially like the ground squirrel photo - the wonderfully blurred background and subject isolation shows that you were down real low for that - which is exactly the way to shoot those little critters! The light on the squirrel is wonderful.

Your bison photo is a great "environmental portrait", as it nicely showcases both the current habitat and the distant snow-covered mountains.

The wolves look to still be in great shape, with their full winter coats. They won't be looking so good in another couple weeks.

I'm glad you were able to find some grizzlies - they're always a thrill to shoot!

Great time to be in the park, isn't it?! Did you find snow at a lot of areas, or did you tend to avoid the heavier snowfall areas, due to many of the roads in those areas still being closed?

"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".

Thanks, I'm either brave or stupid, haven't figured it out yet.

Thank you Tom for the compliments. The Wolves were huge compared to what I had pictured them as. And the Grizzly came on my very last day in the park so it was a great ending to my trip. I rented a 4x4 and took it down through some of the snow coved roads. I spent a good part of a day hiking as well but for the most part all of my images came from driving around and spotting things and jumping out of the car and firing away! And you were right, it was a great time to be in the park, very few tourists and most just other wildlife photographers. Thanks again for all your tips.

Just be patient is my best advice. Took me three days to even see one and when I did, it paid off. Have fun!

Thank you, there are so many Bison there that I got tired of the same old Bison shots, so I went looking for something different.

I was looking at your photos and I think we were there at the same time. Wish I lived close enough to visit whenever I felt like it!
