I noticed it has wooden slats on the passenger side of the floor. Do those have to be removed before use, or do they serve a special purpose?

Bruce, they are temporary "rizers" for my wife chair. The EZlock lockdown is too high by about 1/8th inch to clear the frame under her powerchair. I'm going to redo them, with matching carpet.
