[I hate flooding pages with long quotes or those which have pictures in them, only to be duplicated again and take up a LOT of space... So I slimmed down the quote above. ;)]

Anyhow, first I wanted to say that the message was very well written and certanily a lot of good information there.

Secondly, I wanted to mention that I heard a line on Creative Live a few weeks ago (I beleive it was from Sue Bryce), but it basically said that many small businesses fail because people are too afraid of putting themselves out there in fear that they will be told what they already think of themselves every day.

It's something so true that I had never put any thought into before. Everyone (or most everyone) has some sort of insecurity about themself, but are more afraid that someone else will notice or say something about it...

Many photographers fail simply because they are afraid to 'ask' for money... they either don't value their work and/or don't think it's good enough (sometimes it's not :( ). My point is that, if you are offering a product and/or service to a client, they expect to pay for it... but the photographer may be too afraid to ask for payment and end up giving away work for free - which will force you out of ANY business. It's sad to think of the many small, self-owned businesses go under because of this alone... particularly when the owners (many times) are so great at their craft.

Your physically going door to door? That's hard work, but I think you'll do fine, just dress for success.

here's the design, left is back, right is front

Nice Chris. Those will get a second look. Hand them out, post haste.
As someone who has gone door to door like this many times over the years, albeit not for photography services, I can tell you it does work. It works best when incorporated the way foodguy was describing in his post. Someone mentioned ROI. At $60 a thousand for 4x6 postcards and a few to several hours walking, one job would no doubt provide a generous return on investment. Good luck.
