I have very recently done a couple of on location (others living rooms) newborn shoots. Currently I am using a 430ex ii off camera on a stand, and a shoot through umbrella. I am finding that I cold benefit from 1 or 2 more lights. I am trying to do something temporary with a small budget until I can gather the funds to go with some alienbees. I was looking at the yongnuo line as I know they are fairly inexpensive and have pretty good reviews. Please lead me in the right direction and let me know if it is possible to use the 430ex ii with the yongnuos. Right now I have a knock off brand trigger system. Is it possible to just add another receiver for the other lights to trigger them. Also what would you buy witha budget off around $300.

Canon 5d Mark III, Canon 5d Mark ii, Canon 70-200mm F2.8L IS, Canon 24-105mm F4L IS, Canon 50mm F1.8, Canon 85mm F1.8, Sigma 105mm F2.8 Macro, 600ex, 430 ex ii, 2-yongnuo yn-560iii, cheetah cl-360

You can buy as many receivers as you want for your wireless triggers. I assume you've been using your 430 in manual? If so and you're already used to shooting manual, then a couple YN-560s should do fine. The mk I should be very cheap now if you can find them still, the mk II added an digital display, and the mk III added a built in RF-603 receiver...each costing just a bit more than the last. But still very affordable.

Here is the II on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com …85&sr=8-1&keywords=yn-560 (external link)

Can't find the I or III on Amazon now.

Agree with purchasing some yongnuo lights. They are cheap but a good bang for the buck. With indoor shots, speedlights are strong enough. If shooting outdoors, with strong ambient light, you may need more power with the alien bees.

If you're considering jumping to strobes and can stretch the budget a little, I'd look at the Mettle 600. Going for $320 on Amazon I believe and includes a battery pack. Check this thread for some owners and feedback if interested: https://photography-on-the.net …/showthread.php?t=1244898

With yn-622 triggers, you can get the most out of your 430ex II (HSS, second curtain sync, ettl and mix mode) and buy some manual yn560 II flashes and get pretty good bang for the buck.

622 triggers are around 90$ on ebay per set, so you need one on camera, and then one for each flash, 2 sets would get you 3 flashes off camera. they swap around (tranceivers), and use standard AA batteries.

They also can be used as triggers for strobes in the future, and can enable hyper synch if all the pieces of your equipment will let you do that. (long burn on the strobe, yn622 on camera set to hss)

The photo gadget is reputable (but slow shipping)

so around 160 for the triggers (4 of them) and 150 for two YN 560 II will get you close to your budget. There are pros and cons to everything, so be sure you understand what these flashes can and cant do.. but this is a pretty decent way to start.

It would be more ideal to have all 430 ex 2 with the 622 triggers.. then you can control things from the back of the camera.

Godox/Flashpoint r2 system, plus some canon stuff.

YN-622 are $85 on Amazon (and Eligible for Prime! Even if you don't have Prime, shipping will be faster than if bought from overseas). You can also get the YN-565 or 568 with ETTL that are compatible with the YN-622.
