Australian V8 Super Cars Austin COTA May 18-19

Anyone on here going to be at The Circuit of the Americas next weekend for the V8 Supercars race? Should be good stuff, the Pirelli series and Porsche Cup will be there as well.

I am flying in for it. The track looks big, I dont think my 5d II and 70-200L will be enough focal length to get on track stuff. I am thinking of taking along a crop body to get a bit more out of my lens. What is everyones thoughts on this idea?

I will be there. Turn 15 section 4. I have my trusty Canon XTi and a rental 100-400 L lens. Can't wait!

Dang, after reading, may have to rent a bigger zoom and teleconverter.

depending on where your standing, the 70-200 will probably be ok. your biggest problem is going to be finding a good line of site for the action that doesn't have a fence to shoot through

I sat on Turn 1 for F1, and the 300 was very good, going to 600 with a 2x TC was too close, and the 1.4x was challenging

I cant wait, Aussy V8's racing is some of the most enjoyable to watch motorsports out there!

I have been to F1, and its more about the spectacle than the actual racing, this is going to be pure awesomeness. . I was at the ill fated 2005 US GP in Indy, all of the Michelin cars pulled out due to tire degradation. Saw Schumacher win, in very interesting circumstances.

Do you have a media pass? or just shooting from public areas?

Either way, I'd highly suggest at least a teleconverter + crop body. There aren't many areas where you can get a good clean shot with just a 70-200 on a FF body, IMO.

Nope, just shooting from public areas. Its not gonna break my heart not be shooting all the time. I want to see the racing.

Im gonna go with a Crop body/70-200.

Would be a great series to actually crack the big time in Tim, I`ve tried many times, with my photography,.,.,now just gotta work out how to post a pic or 2

Me too, but rather be watching from where I am than where you are.
It's on at 0430 in Adelaide, which is bad enough.
Tough getting up at 0300 in Perth to watch it live.
