date print problem

I can't print date on pictures by G5 even I set up date is on. There were strange codes on the picture if I print images by my epson colour 777. There are no date on pictures if I ask store to print.
I have contacted canon canada and was told to type date on the image by software.

How can I print date directly on the pictures?

carry around index cards and write out the date on one each day, and hold it in the corner of the frame as you take the photo.

Unless (maybe) you can do it via PictBridge and you're printing directly to the printer from the camera, I don't think there's any way to download the files to the computer with an embedded date stamp. The date is always included in the hidden EXIF data, so it might be possible to add it using your image browser software, but as far as I can tell, the camera can't do it before downloading.
