Mine is on all the time no matter what I'm doing. Especially with landscapes there's no reason to ever take it off.

As it is, I use a tripod so infrequently, I don't see the point in having the additional bulk on the camera when its not needed 95% of the time. Even an extra 1/2" makes a for a tighter fit in the bag when the camera is already gripped.

Quick release does you no good if it's not there. Leave it on. Well if you are hauling around a tripod with you, then I guess you should just leave the bracket on...but if you have no tripod with you, the bracket will do you no good.
