I don't know why, but I had never taken photographs of food before. I recently had a big victory in my life, and I celebrated with a huge haunch of meat. Ladies and Gentlemen, my victory steak:

1. I know I clipped the plate off here :-x

2. I pretty much cook everything in a cast iron pan.

4. The Cut

5. Satisfaction

C+C welcome and appreciated!

background in the first is clunky... simplify... lose the spots, cord, coffeemaker, etc.

Same with the cooking shot, the background is not helping...but i love the look and the smoke

Third shot (with beer) has cluttered background... food photography you want the food to really stand out... There's more light on the background than there is on the food.

The last two are your strongest. Cool perspective. The last one is the best... truly focuses on the food...

Food looks wonderful. The image quality looks fantastic... that lens seems to be pretty sweet!!

IMHO, anybody who know enough about cooking to cook with cast iron - instead of that thin, teflon crap, has got their act together. It looks like a well-seasoned skillet! Good job!

Thanks for the C+C. I honestly didn't even think about the background. The only one I Really took a lot of time to set up was the last one -- it is my favorite as well.

I pretty much cook 90% of everything in a cast iron pan. Steak comes out the best though. Season, salt, sear in butter, flip = perfect steak every time.

Last two are best. A lil more DOF in #4 would have helped a ton imo. #5 works well B/W.
