Very nice. Only thing I would try to fix is the shadow behind him. It's not too bed, maybe dodge it just a little.

Another thing is his pose. You captured him great, but just the pose seems strange.

There are some dark areas that make his face look dirty. Especially his forehead and under his nose.

Cute little guy.....

LOL. He was dirty! Long day after the beach and he also had a huge chocolate milk ring around his mouth that I had to try to clone out. Not the cleanest canvas to begin working with. :D

Nice capture and work on the face. I think I'd darken the white streak on the upper right and maybe even crop out most of it which would take his face out of the center of the frame.

As much as I can appreciate crisp sharp eyes, it often bothers me, that everything else from the face and head is left OOF.

As much as I can appreciate shallow DOF, it often bothers me, that people overdo it.

I don't see cropping into the top of the head to be a problem as much as an artistic choice. I do that all the time on purpose. I love the high angle of the shot. When he looked up, it caused the sky to be reflected in his eyes, which makes them sparkle. I think the high angle works with his expression as well because it makes him look small and vulnerable and it IS the perspective by which you view him most of the time. In THIS shot, it totally works. If he were my little boy, I would absolutely want that framed and on a table top. terrific!
