I am also a member of a forum that has nothing to do with photography.
This forum has been setup with wordpress.com, the free one.
How can I add pictures, not a text link, in the forum text, when doing a reply?

I thought Wordpress was blogging software? You cannot really have a good forum in Wordpress unless you have a core of "editorial staff" and then discussion in the comments.

Simple Machines Forum is free and has the same requirements - MySQL and PHP to run. (Needs hosting)

If you want a forum, I suggest you look at SMF - which is very flexible and great to use (yes, I played with it).
