Hi. I have 400D camera for few years now, and it has always functioned perfectly, but suddenly it stopped working in a weird way so I am searching for help. One day I tried to turn it on, but I couldn't so i thought that my battery died so I put it into charger. One hour later it already showed that it was charged, which was weird. I placed the battery in the camera and at first it worked. Then i turned it off, and when i tried to power it on again after 2 min it wouldn't work. To cut the story short, I was able to power it again few times, and even shoot few photos, but every time I turn it off after the initial power on it won't power on again until I charge my battery for few minutes. So I thought that it was battery problem. But then I took a battery from a friend with the same camera that was fully charged and same problem happened. So then my friend took his battery and placed in his camera but it wouldn't start at first. He placed it on a charger, 5 min later battery was "charged" and since then he had no problems with his camera/battery. No physical or water damage happened to my camera prior to the problem. Can some one give me advice and / or help me? As I'm short on money I would like at least to know what could be the problem before I take it to the service center.

Well, you could always take it in and ask for a quote only.

I would start by replacing the batteries, including the thin battery inside. Batteries do not last forever and this may be an inexpensive fix.
