It's finally R/C event season locally & the first event was last Sat & featured a near perfect day. We had one minor crash & one really major one when a (educated guess based on the evidence) ball link for a blade holder failed. The blade instantly cut the tail boom off & continued around & hit the cabin area wrecking even more parts. Parts showered down over a big area.

And this is the one that destroyed itself.

I wasn't tracking it through the lens when it happened because it was out a bit far for the lens I was using (28-300 L). This is cropped quite a bit & that's the battery pack (they sometimes explode after these kind of crashes) to the right edge of the frame. Nobody wanted to pick it up at first but it was eventually cleared from the field & seemed safe to handle BUT the owner said he wasn't putting it in his car.

Thanks Frank. I was able to get another POTN member to attend & try his hand at R/C and from what he said he really enjoyed the event & plans to do some of the fixed wing events too. Immediately after the event his life got very busy (work) & I haven't heard how he did with his photos so I'm anxious to hear from him. I experimented with some pretty slow shutter speeds hoping for full discs with sharp heli's but I don't think I got 1 single shot I'd post below about 1/160. I need more of these events to get some serious practice on heli's.
