It has been windy and rainy. Yesterday the new barbeque was blown off the patio :(
I don't seem to have many flying things to snap, and much of it has been pretty small.

I did get one shot of a leafhopper yesterday, the first of this year.

Today there was a fly on a leaf and it allowed me a few shots.

On the rim of the plant pot I saw a new Springtail species for me, it was a little difficult to chase and get focus, but great fun.

I noticed that some of the new shoots had been mowed by something

And the culprit

I got a set of a wood louse, and accidentally knocked the switch out of manual, and ended up with an interesting few shots.

I was not so sure I was smiling, but as they had been eaten, it was better to get a picture from it.

Thank you Linda, I could not get very close with the first hopper, so it is only at about 2x. For that reason it is cropped a fair bit.

Thank you Brian and Andres.

I am still getting used to the lighting rig, it does seem to give a relatively soft light, but I used a higher ISO setting to try to get the levels right.

To compensate I have used some noise reduction on most shots.

I do think I will settle with this rig for a while. My last paper-in-front-of-flash lasted ages :D
