Thanks Stina...yes I had to arm wrestle with him before he'd pose!

More to the point, have you ever experienced that terrible feeling of looking through the viewfinder with the lens just a few inches from something like this, then suddenly realising it's gone...and you don't know where? ...ugh!

Quite often. If it's a jumping spider, I check the camera. They see their reflection in the lens and go after it.

I haven't had any thing like that happen. Once in a while, when I am really close to a critter and they come at me quickly, I will jump. Kinda like a bird flying at your windshield. I flinch, like it's going to hit me.

Edit: I was looking at your spider on my phone the first time, Ricardo. It doesn't look grumpy on my computer, it looks like a wise old man. :D

EastBayGirl and MSix...Yes, the 300 f2.8 IS (previous version) and 1.4xII on my 7D.

I live about 4 miles form Van Nuys airport in the SoCal area. Every now and then a plane will fly over much lower than normal. This was one of those times.

We're about that far from the local county airport. Directly on the flight path. No commercial planes in here, but we get business jets every now and then. We live on a hill and when they come in at night, you can see the lights coming almost straight at us through the big windows that look out to the back of the house. I never have time to get my camera out to catch it, though.
