Hi folks,

I'm looking for some websites that offer free music that I could use for things like slideshows and presentations. I shot my first wedding last summer, and I am putting together a slideshow of images that I am going to post on the anniversary.

I have been able to find lots of "royalty free" music online, but unfortunately, you still pay for these! I'm hoping to find something that is completely free.

Thanks!

Be careful, search engines now list free music donwload webistes that are fake, with tons of ads and virus, check well before downloading anything!

I know that many youtube users had to find royalty free, free downloads, so their videos are not removed, you may try to search in relation to that?

Probably you won't find many, if you find something, don't hesitate to post here.

I believe pages with links to .mp3 files are now censored, without any prior checking about rights or anything. Friends had published the first words of their little kid, and just after that, their webpage suddenly disappeared from all search engines.

Worst: I downloaded songs from a military choir website. They offered their own songs for free, but the next time I came to their site, their webhosting provider had blocked all access, citing some infringement to the law... yet they only published their own creations and ancient military marches!

You are not going to find something completely free. Pony up the money and be safe:)

This is perhaps your best bet:

This site (musician) has some wonderful music:

http://www.danosongs.com/ (external link)

This from his home page:

Hi, I'm Dan-O and I post my original music as free MP3 downloads here on DanoSongs.com. You can listen to the songs online or download the tracks. It's also legal to use the music royalty free in your video, game, film, presentation, slideshow or website.

You have my permission to use the songs for personal or commercial use. I use a simple creative commons license that allows you to use the tracks legally. If you are adding the music in your project and you want to use it royalty free, these are the terms:

1. Free with credit to: Music by Dan-O at DanoSongs.com

2. Without credit donate at least $10 US per track or buy the package: Donating is an easy way to use one of my tracks by giving you more freedom when sharing your project. For donation options click here. The package offers the most publishing flexibility and access to 77+ mp3s on your hard drive. If you have questions see the License FAQ

If you purchase two songs for your client site it's $20 (USD) - almost stealing his work.

Regards,
GEWB

I found the link to http://incompetech.com/ (external link) on the danosongs.com website. LOTS of free music there to use under the creative commons license. This site also links to some other sites giving free creative commons music.

JewelBeat has some nice stuff. I just started using them. 99¢, and you can use it for whatever you want.

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

Itunes has a ton of royalty-free music for 99cents a download or entire albums for about five bucks. You can use them however you want.

Thank you. bw!

www.freeplaymusic.com (external link) I use this for a lot of my projects. They've got a great selection and really nice filters set up for moods or genres so you can narrow down your searches quickly.

The OP wants to use music in a presentation, and for free. As I read the agreements page for freeplay, I understand that use in such a way incurs both signed agreements and fees.

You're correct. Depending on the situation it may or may not work.

I usually get my music from triple scoop music. It is paid, though, but it's still reasonable.
