Please advise me any comments or reviews of Sigma AF 2.8 EX DG HSM Macro and Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM L IS macro.

By price, the Canon is much higher but someone said the image quality from both lenses are the same. I doubt it! I need more info from people who actually used or have used them.

Thanks for all replies.

IQ is very similar. This is true of virtually all macro lenses. Choose based on what features you need/want.

Langin, see for yourself...

If you see any difference in IQ, do you think it's worth the price?

I tested it once last year:

OP, all macro lenses are sharp. For some it means same IQ.
If you want to compare two lenses just search them on Flickr.
It will bring thousands of pictures taken in real life.

Ive got both lenses had the sigma for a few years
I went for the Canon when it came out for the is which I find really useful
I doubt in real world use you could tell the difference in IQ
The extra cost of the Canon is worth it to me because I do a lot of low light macro and don't use flash very much

Canon 40D, 350D, 550D and 7D :D

The Sigma has stabilization and by my experience a very good one, as I was shooting hand-held...

It's called OS in Sigma parlance.

My advice , get the longer, sharper Sigma 150 macro lens. Either a used 150/2.8 or a new 150/2.8 OS. I have mine listed on eBay only 'cause I am keeoing my new Sigma 180/2.8 OS lens. Go to Photozone.de - Canon lens section. Read the review for the Sigma 150. Super APO. Very few lenses evr made have that title. Gene
