Folks, sorry another question. I was on a trip to Italy with this combo and it was a bit too heavy for my neck....with a standard Canon strap. I was thinking about getting Black Rapid strap for my next trip, but then again....I do not know whether this is the best solution for Landscape photography as you will need to use the small hole in your camera or the lens which you typically use to put your camera on a tripod.

So what do you typically do?

I personally use a blackrapid sport, to carry a 5d3 and 70-200 2.8 and it's pretty confotable, to have a rapid tripod solution you could buy the fastenR tripod accessory from blackrapid and mount the tripod plate with this accessory connected to your camera or lens and you can easily put in on the tripod.
Here is a link from the accessory LINK from blackrapid (external link)

Do you happen to use a Manfrotto head? If so, you can get the FR-T1 so you can leave the plate attached and still use the BR strap.

I use the BR strap for my 1Dx and 70-200II and I'll never go back to a neck strap again. I have an RSS L-plate and use a clamp to attach the BR strap. I can remove it quickly to switch over to a tripod and back.

Here are a couple of alternatives that address tripod connectivity:

There are threads on the forum that discuss these products in detail, well worth checking out. I backed the Peak Design Kickstarter project so I have the Capture Clip, Leash, and Cuff.

BTW, I posted these here a while back, but:

Camera with L plate and BR strap. I use the op/tech loop as a backup:

I wouldn't recommend going this route as I have personally witnessed the D-ring fail and drop a Nikon D4 and 70-200 combo straight onto the pavement.

My Carryspeed strap mount has a built in tripod mount. It also has the option of supporting both the body and lens when using large telephotos.

I have the Luma Cinch. Even though the current Cinch is different to the one I have, I bought the Membrane Connector with my Cinch.

This means that I can leave my tripod plate on and still have the Cinch connected. If you buy a different brand like the Black Rapids, there's no reason why you can't buy something like the Membrane Connector:

I use this, and like it a lot.

If you have arca swiss plates on your tripod, it's built into the strap. Works great.
