I had 2 ELPH's that I really liked. Both died from the mysterious "lens error"... Both were kept in hard-shell cases, and weren't subject to any undue stress or abuse... The electronics just failed...
I use a P&S for work quite a bit as a construction manager, and when the last ELPH died, I was 4 hours away from home, out on a jobsite. It was working one second, and broken the next.... For this reason, I no longer can get myself to buy Canon P&S cameras... I still have a S100, that exhibited a "flash error" within the first 6 weeks of owning it. (Where the flash failed to raise because of an internal gearing problem) And I still have a SX230HS ... It hasn't given me any problems yet...
On topic though, I like it when people take great pictures with a piece of equipment isn't top of the line... the most famous one to come to mind is when Digital Rev had some well known photogs come to town, and they handed them a Lego Camera.

I'm not a professional photographer, and I don't want to be.
