dont the red lenses on the front of the lenses provide feedback for the flash? how does it work with the black sack around it?

The red lens is where the AF assist pattern is emitted through when the flash is mounted on the camera. In this case, the RF shield is not required because the FlexTT5 is used as a transmitter. The shield is required only when the flash is used as a remote slave and the FlexTT5 is used as a receiver. And in that case, the AF assist light is not required so blocking it would not be an issue. ...Leo
