Now i know lots of you have been to Glencoe in scotland at some point. Dont try and deny it, ive seen the pictures that prove it. Anyway, im going up for a weekend in a couple of days. The plan at the moment is to leave early saturday and spend the day driving through the Glen, while going for a walk, and then heading up to Fort William over night. Weather permitting we will hike up Ben Nevis on Sunday but if its bas weather another walk in Glencoe seems the way to go.

So im looking for places to go to make the best of (at least one) day. Anyone know of some nice walks that will lead to some photogenic places? Im interested in shooting some water (moving preferably) as well as mountain scenary. Im not sure ill be scaling any peaks in the glen itself but moderate to hard walks are fine.

Any advice welcome and very much appreciated.

There is a nice series of waterfall's at the far end of the tiny little glen nevis road (the main one to the mountain base by all the camps sites), its a great road, twisties and ups and downs, only a few miles longs but fun.

Right Adrian
Where on earth will i start from...

The weather, its suppose to be raining all weekend up there, and when it rains there,it realy rains, you cann`t see a thing in front of you.

Next the places...
As soon as you turn right after Tyndrum (going from Loch Lomond) you are imediatly going up the highlands.
The first place you`ll see on your right is a big glen down the road with an impressive mountain (Bainn Dorain) at the end of it,(there is a layby there to stop).

After this,Rannoch Moor with loch Tulla to your left and fearther down a series of small lochs/rivers etc.

Then the kings house hotel to your right (after the ski resort to your left) and across the road Buachaille etive mor , the famous mountain, you just cann`t miss it.
Just after the hotel, you can turn left down to a small road which takes you to glen etive,on the way there (next to the road) is the river etive with lots of pools and small falls, all the way that road will take you to lock etive (around 30min.drive).

After the B.E.Mor , its all mountains and beauty and at the end of the road is the village of glencoe.

After this there is not much till you get to fort william.
A very good/clean and well priced £25 for a double room B&B...01397 702034.

At fort william ask the people there how to get to glen nevis.
When you get there(you will be next to river nevis)take that road all the way to the end (around 20min) and park the car there.
Walk for about 35min (hamf a tripod with you, you`ll need it) and you will find yourself in heaven, its wearth it.
Big waterfall, you can hardly see the rope bridge (i didn`t,i was told later) but cross it and go right under the fall.

Well,my fingers are sore...
I hope i have helped Adrian , have a great time and looking forward to admire your photos mate.:D

Thanks guys, thats just what i needed.

Sorry if i hurt your hand dimitri, but that has really come in handy. I was praying for a turnaround ijn the weather but its not looking likely im afraid. At least the overcast conditions should be good for the waterfalls.

Ill be sure to post some shots, as long as i get some that are reasonable of course.

There is probably alot of things i haven`t covered but for a first time he will just have to follow the road and check everything.
I don`t think he will have enough time for all that anyway, remember, its dark at 3.30 pm these days.

The thing is that for a first time you`ll get an idea of the place and the next time you`ll know.

Wow, john. Thats absolutely brilliant thanks. Great pictures and some great ideas too. Between the three of you i think i have alot to think about!!

And dimitri, i think you hit the nail on the head saying this is more a recon trip just to get a feel for what i would like to shoot. Then head back up when the weather gets better (and the nights get longer!!).

Thanks again guys.
