I suggest a couple of flash units. Any old model of EX will work. I really like the 550EX.

Couple beers and relaxed thought about what kind of photography you are more interested in now and from what it will benefit more and give more joy. Seriously. And don't forget the beer part.

What we should say: "save up until you need to buy something..."

However, I think it's illegal for a photographer not to buy something new every month, so maybe a flash to open up another dimension :)

Appreciate the humor, but I'll say it out loud. Why on earth is the OP on a photography forum asking some strangers about how to spend more money because he can't think of anything he really needs?

Really? "I have no idea what I need, but I need to spend more, because obviously I don't have everything yet." That makes sense? When your photography is being limited by a lack of some sort of equipment, go buy it. Until then, go take pictures.

You may want to look into a Canon EF 70-200 f2.8L IS USM. It takes great portraits on the low end, and can be used for nature, etc. on the long end. Also, it would add a great "L" glass addition to your lens collection. I will also reduce the amount of money in your wallet. It will force you outdoors to take some really great shots. Once you see the magic of Canon "L" glass you will be replacing many of your Canon EF-S lenses.

New Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, Canon EOS 7D Mark II, Canon EOS 50D, Canon 7D Classic, Canon 6D, Canon EF 70-200 f4L USM with IS, Canon 40mm pancake, Canon EF 50mm 1.8, Canon EF-S 10-22mm wide angle, Canon EF-S 18-135 IS STM, Canon EF 100mm 2.8L USM Macro, Tamron 18-270mm Dii VC, Tamron SP 150-600mm VC, Tamron SP 24-70mm f2.8 VC USM, Canon EF 16-35 f2.8L II USM, Tamron 2X Tele-Extender, 1.4 Tele-extender

OP only has 1 efs lens, and it is a decent one by all the reviews I've seen. I wouldn't trade my 10-22 or 15-85 ANY almost-equivalent L lens.

Totally agree. You'll know exactly what is missing once you miss it and won't have to come onto a forum to ask what's next. If you don't know what you need, then you need nothing. Go out and shoot.

Maybe a flash (and then throw out the light tent).

Other than that, you should consider just using what you have and taking pictures. Seriously, you can do an awful lot with the gear you currently have. Use it until you hit a block and then buy equipment to enable you to do that particular task that you are unable to with your current gear.

Light tents are great for product shots, and certainly deserves a place in a photographer's arsenal, if nothing else, they are great for taking pictures of your equipment when you sell it. :)

Why do people on this forum always find a need to criticize other people who want to spend their own hard-earned money. Seriously, he is enjoying his hobby and passion and looking for ideas. Give him ideas - or don't. I don't care what your hobby is - mine are cycling and photography - people like to share it with others and buy "swag".

My "idea" is that the very best way to spend your money on your hobby so you truly enjoy it is to get the stuff YOU need to do what YOU want. That way you don't waste any money doing what some stranger on the internet told you to do with it.

If that is a "criticism", then I guess some people are just sensitive about how they "consume" their hobby. Far too many "photographers" are really more consumers of photographic technology than they are photographers.

My advice is to wait until you have a photographic issue to solve that buying something will fix. Then buy that thing. But buying whatever I, or any other stranger, thinks is necessary to complete a collection of equipment is just not a smart way for anyone to spend money on anything.

I still think that's good advice.
