Unless someone else knows better, you can't fit any external power pack without DIY butchering the flash itself. I'll find some solution Thanks for your help...I own a 430EXII, no external battery pack option available without going through an extensive diy mod that I wouldn't find worth the effort. What are your needs for an external battery pack? They typically are used for a quicker recycle time and extended periods of shooting or studio/location work where you may have a speedlite up on a stand for extended periods. Alexander R.O.

There's no native connection on the 430EXII to allow for use of an external battery pack. However, you may be able to find a battery like a Quantum that has an adapter to insert into the battery compartment for connectivity. I just did a Google search and found that in about 10 seconds (with numerous links to threads here that discuss the topic). However, this solution will not be inexpensive given the nature of the batteries discussed and the cost of the adapter (these are not 8 cell AA holders). It just means you don't have to change batteries as often. You still have to carry the now always connected battery pack on you. Worst of all, it won't actually speed up recycle time. gordon

But it will only give more shots, not improve the recycle time. DIY batteries were very common before the Pixel etc packs. In fact when I first posted the Pixel pack review (it was one of the first sold) everyone was saying but I can just DIY a Lead Acid one for $30. Which is true, but that doesn't speed up recycle time without a high voltage port in the flash. . rypson wrote in post #15935842 No butchering for me.... I'll find some solution Thanks for your help...Short of leaving the battery door open and having wedding guests constantly reminding you (helpfully??), I can't see this as a solution.
