I'm fairly sure you will find that the 430 doesn't accept external power packs.

I don't own a 430EXII. Unless someone else knows better, you can't fit any external power pack without DIY butchering the flash itself.

I own a 430EXII, no external battery pack option available without going through an extensive diy mod that I wouldn't find worth the effort. What are your needs for an external battery pack? They typically are used for a quicker recycle time and extended periods of shooting or studio/location work where you may have a speedlite up on a stand for extended periods.

I don't own a Mark II, but Whortleberry is right. There's no native connection on the 430EXII to allow for use of an external battery pack. However, you may be able to find a battery like a Quantum that has an adapter to insert into the battery compartment for connectivity. I just did a Google search and found that in about 10 seconds (with numerous links to threads here that discuss the topic). However, this solution will not be inexpensive given the nature of the batteries discussed and the cost of the adapter (these are not 8 cell AA holders).

Canon did not make any external socket on 430EX or 430EXII for external battery pack

that's why, our friend said butchering the flash, means, you got to open the flash,
soldered a connection to the terminals and make your own circuit for external power

All that work is pointless, though. It just means you don't have to change batteries as often. You still have to carry the now always connected battery pack on you. Worst of all, it won't actually speed up recycle time.

You can quite easily make some dummy batteries and use an inexpensive 6volt sealed lead acid battery. But it will only give more shots, not improve the recycle time.

DIY batteries were very common before the Pixel etc packs. In fact when I first posted the Pixel pack review (it was one of the first sold) everyone was saying but I can just DIY a Lead Acid one for $30. Which is true, but that doesn't speed up recycle time without a high voltage port in the flash.

Short of leaving the battery door open and having wedding guests constantly reminding you (helpfully??), I can't see this as a solution. Be nice if it was though.

I used a System 9 (maker vanished long ago) SLA pack with Metz 45s for many years (still got it, just needs 4 new Cyclones levering in - cheaper to get a couple of Quantum CM4 leads for my Godox PB960). Or rather, I had one with me but didn't use it because of the weight. This worked on the "replace the normal battery" principle and, yes, it gave a heck of a lot of 'pops' but not much in the way of faster recycling. However, when you're constantly hitching it up on your shoulder and/or pulling your trousers back up (belt-clip mode) you kinda get to thinking "This just isn't worth the hassle". One spare Metz battery 'cartridge' in my suit pocket covered immediate requirements till I could get back to the camera bag pile.

Not that this helps OP, just saying that SLAs have very distinct sartorial drawbacks. :o
