another pricing question

i am meeting with a potential client today. its a doctors office and they want images of the staff and of the office for promotional material, brochures, website, etc.

i know how much my time is worth to do the work and create the images but how do you go about costing out for licensing for this type of work?

Chances are, they will expect a price that includes 'all' usage, but really just means use on business cards / website / promo materials.

I spoke with the client today, basically they are just looking for updated images for their website that is being updated.

staff photos, interior and exterior shots of the office, etc.

so i expect the shoot to take about 2-3hrs of actual shooting (factoring in coming back to get interior/exterior shots) and another 2 to process the images.

how do you guys usually cost out a job like this? i'm use to hourly rates and prints...

curious, is the two year web license a standard thing and what happens after the two years, they pay more or update the images?

if you get into doing this type of work, you want it to be repeatable business. it's good for them, good for you. they'll have staff changes and if they want their website to look professional, they'll need for all the headshots to look similar, not like they were each shot by a different photographer. you can offer them a price break on future shoots by having you back periodically.

you can make it a three year license, if you want to use that as a negotiating point.

and yes, they can choose to relicense rather than reshoot. it's all about sales, negotiating, and relationship building.

I usually charge $300 per image and that includes editorial license.

Day rate, creative fee, licensing fee, taxes, equipment fees (any special rentals) is what I list for a commercial photoshoot.
